Starr Written by Jerri Carter
Little Blind Starr, after 1 year of special training, and eye surgeries, little Starr has found her permanent home and her pair of doggie eyes! She finally has a permanent pair of prosthetic eyes and the pressure from the glaucoma is gone. She is without a doubt the bravest little dog I have every encountered. Even with all of her pain and weekly visits to the vet, she has kept a positive attitude and absolutely loves everyone she meets. She has the will to survive and overcome anything that has been thrown her way. She is the collective effort of a lot of love, trust and exposure to everything, both from Jerri and from Gaby her foster mom. She is good with everything and all animals, and loves to learn anything that she can do. She is going to be taught tracking, as it is something she could do without a pair of eyes. I started teaching her to follow a scent, and she is going to be great at it and that will give her the mental challenges she will need to be a happy girl. One of the Golden Retrievers with her in the photo shown is Starr's seeing eye buddy named Grace. Thank you to all who helped with her expenses and who kept her in your prayers. It has been a long rehabilitation and exposure to outside stimuli but has been so very worth every minute of the time I have had with her. A special thank you to Starr's new mom and dad for taking on a special needs dog.
Note: Over $2,500 was spent on Starr’s prosthetic eyes. |
