Gracie

Written by Jerri Carter

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! "AMAZING GRACIE" EARNS HER ADCH!

May 15, 2005

Gracie came to SEBCRL from Arkansas. She was picked up by Animal Control while running the street with a Pekinese. The owners had been called several times to reclaim the two dogs and finally they got fed up and told the shelter that they would take their Pekinese back home, but they could keep Gracie, since they had difficulty keeping her in their yard. Gracie was 6 months old and already not wanted. When Beth met Gracie, she immediately took her home to begin the trip of a lifetime for the both of them.

Beth was training with Jerri, in Agility with another dog named Murphy and she began training Gracie as well. Gracie was a natural. She was a feisty little BC with a desire and heart as big as Texas! She showed Beth that she had the aptitude and ability to be great, but being a border collie she also sometimes designed her own agility courses. Beth was a new handler to the sport as well. She persevered with Gracie, and finally they were ready for trials and the conquests began coming in slowly and steadily. Gracie not only made her qualifying scores, but often was in the ribbons as well. This little white dog, who no body wanted was making a name and reputation for herself in the agility world! What a joy it has been for this rescuer to watch from the sidelines, as Beth and Gracie made their way toward this coveted title. Gracie and Beth almost have their AKC, MACH title as well. I am so very proud of them both!

See what a throw-away dog can do!!!!
